5-6 Grade Center Announcements
Take your child to work day
The National “take your child to work day” is coming up on Thursday April 23, 2015.  If your student will be participating in a work related function that day (full day or half) please consider the following guidelines that have been established to streamline attendance for the day.

Please fill out a trip form for the absence in advance.  The student’s teachers will sign it as well as the House Principal.  You will not have to call the absentee line in the morning and upon return your student will be able to make up any work missed.  You can click here to print a copy of the SF Adult Sponsored Trip Form.

Please note that if your student has exceeded 10 days of absence during the school year, the request will be denied.  Attendance records can be accessed through skyward.  If you have any questions please contact the office at (610)705-6003.
Daily Announcements
Ever wonder what is going on at School?  Now you can click here to see the same announcements that your student hears each day.  Daily announcements will be up loaded by 12 p.m. each day.

Voices of Inspiration
The Voices of Inspiration Award was created by Freedom Credit Union and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to recognize and reward teachers throughout Montgomery County. Initiated in 2007, the Award honors exceptional educators and their commitment to students, families, and the community as a whole. The enthusiasm of the participating schools and communities continually set a strong foundation for the Voices of Inspiration Award, helping make it a great success and allowing us to pay tribute to teachers for years to come. Nominations are now open for the 2015 Awards! Fill out the Online Nomination Form now to recognize your favorite educator!

Nominations, based on an individual's contributions or performance during that school year, or for cumulative efforts over many years, may be submitted by any of the following people: students, parents, co-workers, administrators, or school employees. The nominee should clearly demonstrate an extraordinary dedication to teaching young people, while exhibiting the qualities that represent a truly inspirational educator.

Twenty-three finalists, one teacher from each of the 21 Montgomery County public school districts, one teacher from the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, and one teacher from a Montgomery County non-public school, will be recognized with a commemorative plaque. From these 23 finalists, three winners (one high school, one middle school, and one elementary school teacher) will be honored with Freedom's Voices of Inspiration Award and $500 each. The school in Montgomery County with the most nominations will win a cash prize of $500 for their school to use for any educational purpose.

The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

Class Party
The Builders Club is sponsoring a poptab collection to benefit the Ronald McDonald House that provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children. We have asked all of the fifth and sixth grade students to save the poptabs from cans at home and bring them into their homerooms. We are holding a school-wide contest to see which homerooms can collect the most tabs. The contest will be running through the end of May. Winners will receive their choice of a pizza, ice cream, or water ice party. Last year, we collected 21 cases of poptabs, and this year we are on target to collect even more!
PSSA Dates
PSSAs will be held April 13 through April 24, 2015.
It is very important that your child attends school and arrives on time daily to fully participate in test sessions.  The tests will be administered the first two hours of school.  Please be mindful of the testing schedule and avoid scheduling any appointments or trips during the testing window.  As always, a good night’s sleep and healthy breakfast will help to ensure that your child will perform up to his or her ability.
For more information please see the Principal's Winter Page on this website.

5th Grade Extravaganza
On Monday, June 1st, in lieu of an end of the year field trip, the 5th grade will be participating in an EXTRAVAGANZA to be held during the day and on school grounds.

Important Message from the School Nurses:

Administration Of Medication During School Hours-
Medication should be scheduled around school hours if possible. Medications orders are required from a physician for prescription and over-the-counter medicine, as well as herbal remedies.
All medications administered in school require the completion of the “Authorization for School Medication Administration” form found on the district website under Forms, Health. A new prescription is needed every school year for medicine that is taken on a long term basis. No medication will be administered by the nurse without proper physicians orders on file.
